Shane McGee Foundation Announces Scholarship Winners
Gregory Cohen & Fahad Mithavayani

Pembroke Pines, FL – The Shane McGee Foundation is pleased to announce that high school seniors Gregory Cohen and Fahad Mithavayani are this year’s recipients of the Shane McGee Foundation Memorial Scholarship. Gregory is a student at Monarch High School, and Fahad attends Western High School.

“The Shane McGee Foundation Memorial Scholarship assists deserving students, interested in the field of law, in continuing their education and obtaining a degree,” added Foundation Board Member and retired teacher Robert McGee. “The scholarships, each in the amount of $5,000, will be paid directly to the college of their choice.”

Students from Flanagan High School, Pembroke Pines Charter High School, McArthur High School, Cooper City High School, Fort Lauderdale High School, Hollywood Hills High School, Monarch High School, Nova High School, Western High School, Blanche Ely High School, Pompano Beach High School, West Broward High School and Plantation High School were invited to participate. Applicants were required to submit a form that included three 200-word questions, a 500-word essay and letters of recommendation from school faculty, community service organizations, and/or an employer.

“We are thrilled to award the scholarships to Gregory and Fayed, both of whom have bright futures,” said Foundation Board Member Constance McGee. “In our fourth year of sponsoring this scholarship program, we are quite happy with the response that we have received from schools and their students, in addition to the quality of the students that applied.”

Gregory and Fahad will be recognized during their school's Senior Awards night ceremony in May.
